Splatoon 2 Splatfest 「Rock vs Pop」 is Cooler In Japan

The first Splatoon 2 Splatfest – Which do you listen to; Rock vs Pop! –  is announced for this Saturday, 7/15.

Nintendo are wasting no time, kicking off the Splatoon 2 festivities in style with a Splatfest before release Fresh!

In English regions, the Splatfest theme is 「Cake vs Ice Cream」 – not as cool as the Japanese Splatfest, which is thematically tied to the concert spectacle present in the rest of the games marketing material.

News Flash!
This is an announcement for the Splatoon 2 Festival Eve Event!
All players will be split into 2 factions to battle in a Festival Match (ENG Splatfest) – and you can experience this limited time event!
The Splatfest theme – 「Which do you listen to? Rock vs Pop」! Running from Saturday 7/15, 5:00PM to 9:00PM!

In Festival Match (ENG: Splatfest),  players battle to reach a settlement for a problem that can’t be resolved. Presented with 2 themes put to vote, all participants are split into 2 factions.
Teammates in the same faction unite into teams of 4 and fight against the opposing team.  Win or lose – all battles during the Splatfest lead to a winning team – and the winning team decides the end result.

For Splatfests, players can enter Solo Mode – which automatically pairs you with teammates. Or, Team Mode – where you can unite with 4 Friends of the same faction. Solo pairs you with Solo players, and Team pairs you with other Team players.
In the end, the percentage of votes will be tallied by the win rate of Solo and Team battles. Which will win out of the two?

Nintendo are going all out with their marketing of Splatoon 2 leading up to launch – so you won’t want to miss this Splatfest. The Demo is available from the Switch eShop now.
